About the Artist Maude Pervere has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area all her life. The majority of her images were made within 50 miles of home. Her abstract work includes Snowflakes (2009), Aerials (2006-08), Scrap (2004-05) and Waterworks (2004-05). As she and her family are inveterate travelers, her work also includes images from around the world. Though Pervere has been making photographs since she was a teen, her first career was in law. She served initially as a Public Defender, then taught at Hastings, U.C. Berkeley (Boalt) and Stanford Law Schools for more than 25 years. Pervere retired from Stanford Law School in 2005.
